The Virginia, Maryland and Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC) is a statewide service association of fifteen distribution cooperatives. The staff directs state legislative efforts, assists in power supply problems, and directs cooperative employee training and safety programs. Other members of VMDAEC include:

A&N Electric Cooperative is also a member of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) which is the national service organization dedicated to representing the national interests of consumer-owned cooperative electric utilities and the consumers they serve. Approximately 900 NRECA members are electric distribution systems.
Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC) was formed by twelve electric cooperatives located in Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware, including ANEC, for the main purpose of reducing the cooperative's dependence on private power suppliers for our power needs.
Rural Utilities Service (RUS) is a federal lending agency from which cooperatives can obtain part of their loans for plant expansion. These are not federal grants, but loans to be repaid with interest.
National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation (CFC) is a privately-owned, non-governmental organization that provides state-of-the-art financial products and business management services to more than 1,050 electric cooperative owners across the United States. These systems serve an estimated 32 million ultimate users of electricity.
