WHAT IS PREPAID METERING?

Prepaid metering is a voluntary, self-managed, pay-as-you go payment option. With Prepaid you can receive electric service without paying a deposit and can make smaller more frequent payments rather than one larger payment each month. To get started on a Prepaid plan you only need a $25 credit on your account. Your electric use and account balance are calculated daily. You are responsible for monitoring your Prepaid account since you will no longer receive a paper bill.

 

HOW DOES PREPAID WORK?

Your Prepaid balance is calculated daily by adding the energy charges, access charges, and taxes then subtracting payments received. The Prepaid rate for electric is the same as the residential rate. If your Prepaid account balance reaches zero your electric service will be suspended. Electric service will resume within three hours of receiving a payment that creates a positive balance. Prorated monthly charges will continue to be applied daily as long as the account is active regardless if the service is off. To stop service and avoid recurring charges, contact the cooperative.

 

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY PREPAID BALANCE IS LOW?

You will receive a low-balance notice by voicemail, email or text message once your balance reaches a predetermined level. This will give you time to make a payment. Notifications continue until the balance is depleted or a sufficient payment is made.

Login to SmartHub to obtain your daily account balance. Or call 1-855-386-9921 to receive information regarding your prepaid account.

WHAT IF I RECEIVE ENERGY ASSISTANCE?

Energy assistance payments will be applied to your Prepaid balance when received by the cooperative.
