Longtime Board Member R. Wayne Browning Passes
It is with great sadness that A&N Electric Cooperative announces the death of longtime board member R. Wayne Browning.
Mr. Browning has been a strong regional leader of electric cooperatives for well over 30 years and has made significant contributions to the quality of life on Virginia’s Eastern Shore. He was first elected to the cooperative’s Board of Directors in October 1981.
Mr. Browning was a past Secretary/Treasurer of the cooperative, serving in that role for over 19 years. Throughout his tenure on the board, Mr. Browning served on numerous committees for the cooperative. He was a graduate of NRECA's Electric Cooperative Directors Institute.
“Mr. Browning worked tirelessly to serve the local community,” said A&N President Butch Williamson. “As a member of the cooperative board, he was a devoted advocate of the cooperative’s membership.”
In the community, Mr. Browning was active as a Jaycee, a Masonic officer, a past Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce Board member and was a past president of Eastern Shore Vocational Center.
The cooperative sends its heartfelt condolences to the Browning family during this difficult time.
